- Maria Milazzo is a graduate from Kean University with a B.A. in Fine Arts/Teacher Certification. She has been painting since a youngster of 13 years old after receiving her first "John Nagey Learn To Draw Kit". Reflecting on her childhood, Maria remembers receiving shoeboxes filled with paintbrushes of all shapes and sizes deliverd to her door from her great Aunt Mary. "One day these brushes are going to be the start on becoming an art teacher". Many of those bruses are still being used today. Maria lives in Matawan NJ and has been a teacher of art to children and adults in the surrounding areas of her community since 1991. "The style of my work is ever changing as it reflects the ever changing outlook I have on my own little world. Sometimes I feel the strong need to break away from the present and take myself back in time, so I search out subjects that have both personal and non personal historical references". For the past 8 years, Maria has visited an old fisherman's wharf in Cape Code and has found the tip of the cape to be one of her main sources of inspiration. Maria adds, "Provincetown consists of colorful people and artists, historical landscapes, softness and drastic shadows of the dunes, and the breezes that wake up the soul".
Maria adds, "I have a lot to be thankful for that I have been guided to the path of artistic expression. It has become something very strong within me that I carry along wherver I go."
